In 1996, Kim Camarella and Yvonne Buonauro decided it was time to bring stylish and contemporary clothing to the plus-size fshion industry.
This decision came after much research into a market niche they would find to be so vastly underserved and completely ignored by fashion designers and the media.
By year end 1999, Kiyonna had increased its distribution base to 120 boutiques located throughout every region of the U.S., as well as the Dominican Republic, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and Canada.
Ultimately, it is clear that the founders had the foresight, knowledge, and determination to enter into the plus-size fashion world during its infancy with a unique and very needed product.
